About me: 

My name is Jake and I am 21 years old. I currently live in Gozo but I am originally from the United Kingdom and have also lived in Canada.

I consider myself to be well travelled and have been to countries like USA, Canada, Spain & Canary Islands, Greece, France, Italy & Sicily, Malta, Switzerland, Turkey and more. I encourage everybody to travel as much as they can, as far as they can, as long as they can...life's not meant to be lived in one place.

I enjoy working as an English Teacher as it gives me the opportunity to meet many people, located all around the world. My teaching style is very adaptable, transparent and fun! I believe the English language is a fundamental skill to have if you're going to travel.

Certification:

220-hour TEFL Master Course - Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) / Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL).

 

Teaching background:

 I studied a comprehensive course which took 220 hours to complete. At the end of my course I was awarded a TESOL Certificate, this is the next level up from TEFL. My course including many modules such as Language (grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary), Specialism English and Business English. It also included Teaching Young Learners, Teaching Online, Telephone Teaching and Classroom Teaching.

My teaching strengths include my clear dialog as I am a British Native speaker. I specialise in Conversational English and Business English.

 

Education background: 

BTEC Level 3 Business Studies 90 Credit Extended Diploma from South Essex College in Essex, United Kingdom. 

High School Diploma from Kelowna Secondary School in British Columbia, Canada.

 

Work background:

I am firstly a Teacher here at Discover A Language, but I am also the owner.

Alongside teaching, I work as a Hotelier at Ellie Boo Bed & Breakfast. This is a family owned B&B located in the village of Xaghra on Island of Gozo, within the Maltese Archipelago.

Before moving to Malta, I lived in the UK where I worked for a large telecommunications company called Three. I worked there for over 2 years and gained a real knowledge of technology and customer service skills.

Before returning back to the UK to complete my Business Studies Diploma, I lived in Canada where I worked for a well known fashion company called Tommy Hilfiger.
